What we do

Working in the forest and timber industry isn’t just another job, it provides workers with the opportunity to make a difference as the movement towards sustainable materials is on the rise, driving increased demand for timber products. You can help manufacture the world's most environmentally friendly building product or things we use everyday like toilet paper, tissues, cardboard, and nappies. Or you could put your science skills to the test by working to make renewable biofuels, biomaterials and biochemicals. No two days are ever the same when you're working in the forest and timber industry!

Canopy implements communications programs to attract workers interested in a sustainable career path; and promotes training and education pathways for school leavers, the unemployed and existing workers looking for new opportunities.

Our Mission

Canopy has three pillars which form the foundation of the project. We want to ensure that the forest and timber industry has the resources to teach, upskill, retrain and retain workers.

01

Connect

At Canopy, we’re passionate about connecting individuals and businesses with the right training and career opportunities. Our mission is to help people find meaningful work that will make a real difference in their lives, as well as their communities. We provide a centralised focus point and communications channel for state-wide industry training and career development opportunities.

02

Attract

We are dedicated to providing opportunities that empower individuals to build their skills and succeed in the forest and timber industry. We partner with industry, schools, colleges, universities, employment service providers and communities to collaboratively create and deliver dynamic career education and work experience opportunities.

03

Educate

We will facilitate the development and provision of forest and timber industry training and education programs across Queensland, growing a skilled, safe and diverse workforce to meet the industry's future needs. Education and training are key to creating a safe and sustainable future for the industry and our communities. We provide access to relevant and up-to-date training and education programs that are tailored to the needs of the industry.
